Maffeis Engineering has performed the study and analysis of the Podium’s aluminum cladding panels, for IALC.
The Podium is located at the base of the Hadid Tower, one of the three towers of the new Citylife District in Milan, and it hosts the Citylife Shopping District. This podium is also designed by Zaha Hadid: it opened its doors in December 2017 and is now the biggest shopping mall in Italy, with its 32,000 m² surface.

Thanks to our capabilities with computational design, Maffeis first was able to run an analysis to determine the geometry of the panels, whether they were plane, cylindrical or double-curved. Then the panel joints were finalized and the main cut sheets for production using CNC machines were generated.

Maffeis also designed the ETFE roof of the shopping mall for Taiyo Europe.
