Taiyo Europe appointed Maffeis Engineering for the final design of the roof and the cable net as part of the refurbishment of the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid: the concept design was made by Spanish architects Cruz y Ortiz.
Maffeis used its extensive stadium covering and façade design expertise to develop Value Engineering solutions, IFC, Shop and installation drawings.

The final design consisted of 96 PTFE main panels, cladding, outer canopy and louvers (80,000 m²) supported on a steel framework. The panels were designed to mimic a large cloak unifying the existing stadium.
